Boutique Corporation PCL and RMUTL secure new FDA approval for the medical production and cultivation of cannabis

16.12.2021

Bangkok, Thailand, 16 December 2021 – Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna Nan (RMUTL)  exclusive partner for the cultivation of cannabis with Bespoke Life Science Limited (“Bespoke”), a company under Boutique Corporation Public Company Limited (“BC”) mark another successful milestone in its cannabis wellness journey, with an FDA approval for the medical production and cultivation of cannabis for Thai Traditional Medicine purposes.

On 23 November 2021, RMUTL and Bespoke were invited by the FDA Sub-Committee to provide statements and clarifications on their license application for the medical production and cultivation of cannabis for Thai Traditional Medicine purposes. Later, the FDA license which has been issued this month and is effective on 1 January 2022, marks another major milestone for Bespoke and partners, allowing them to cultivate up to 406 plants per crop from a variety of imported seed strains for 4 crops per year, representing approximately 1,624 cannabis plants per year. These plants are expected to produce volumes of kilograms of dried cannabis flowers for the purposes of Thai traditional medicines and oils. The cultivation will take place in the state-of-the-art indoor growing facility built by Bespoke in Nan, Thailand at RMUTL and will involve four annual growing cycles, overseen by a team of expert growers.

RMUTL’s application submission for this approval, in conjunction with Bespoke, allows for the distribution of cannabis dry flower to a relevant government organization within the Ministry of Public Health to produce Thai traditional medicine and oils for Bespoke. The produced cannabis Thai traditional medicine and oils will be prescribed via Bespoke’s high-end clinics and wellness centers. Bespoke’s first clinic will be located at recently launched mixed-use development, Summer Point on Sukhumvit Road, conveniently located at the steps of BTS Phrakhanong.

The new FDA approval marks an extension to the existing FDA license received by the partnership, issued on 30 June 2021 for the import of 41 seed strains of cannabis of up to 398 seeds and for the cultivation of cannabis for research and development (R&D).

So far, the cultivation of the seeds has been a smooth process with an 85% success rate at the germination and vegetative stage, resulting in 99 out of 117 seeds at the vegetative stage. This growing cycle will last until early January 2022 when the crops will then be harvested. This success rate is considered high and indicates strong potential.

“Our lab in Nan adheres to strict quality control, that will allow Bespoke to produce high-quality designer Cannabis for the use in Thai traditional medicine cannabis formulas, cannabis based oils and other cannabis related products that will be distributed in our clinics - the first of which is expected to be opened in Q2, 2022 at our first Thai traditional Clinic located at BCPCL’s newest commercial project Summer Point, Phrakhanong. We are one step closer to the launch of new cannabis and wellness business, in partnership with trusted partners, RMUTL and another government related organization within the Ministry of Public Health. We hope that this new venture will bring benefit to both the Boutique portfolio, as well as end-users who will benefit from high-end cannabis-related offerings, as Thailand welcomes back international visitors,” said Mr. Prab Thakral, President and Group CEO of Boutique Corporation Public Company Limited.

The cannabis journey continues to grow and expand as Bespoke, in conjunction with RMUTL, are now planning the development of a larger indoor growing facility for approximately 20,000 plants to be developed on a six rai piece of land within the RMUTL campus. The new facility will be ready by the first half of next year.
